Orthodontic treatment plays an important role in improving overall health by correcting irregularities of the bite and facial structures in the mouth and jaw area. The goals are straightened teeth and health and more beautiful smiles.
Individual problems determine the best time to start orthodontic treatment, but the American Association of Orthodontics recommends that age 7 is a good time for the first visit to an orthodontist, or earlier if a problem is noted by either the family dentist or the parents.
